After a hard day at the university, you don’t have to travel far to reward yourself with a cold beer in one of Konstanz’s beer gardens. The sunny Uni-Biergarten, for example, is located on campus and offers drinks from April through August at affordable prices. You can even borrow a blanket if you would rather recline on the grass than sit in another chair after a long day of classes.
In the spring of 2012 the Brigantinus (roman name for Lake Constance) on the right bank of the Rhine became a student hot spot mainly in summer. Simple reason: after sunbathing on the shores of the Seerhein you are there in the blink of an eye. Sit down in the large beer garden, in the shadow of a beautiful beech tree and enjoy the freshly tapped beer. Food prices are student-friendly only at lunch (from 8.50 euros), however.
A real beer garden institution at the lake is the Hafenhalle. Salads, schnitzel, sausages and beer, and sometimes strange live bands, sports on the large-screen TV and of course the unbeatable view of the harbour. If only life were always this good.
Loaded with shopping bags and in need of a breather? Check out the K9 Le Sud, an insider location behind the restaurant K9, directly in the pedestrian area. We recommend the yummy grill offers.
You want to avoid the hurly-burly of the crowds? Then visit the idyllic beer garden Stromeyer at the shores of the Seerhein. Amidst landmarked art nouveau buildings and the historical water tower this is the perfect place to relax another way.
