Welcome to the university cities Konstanz and Kreuzlingen!

Studying where others go on holiday! Have you heard anyone say that yet? Well, welcome to the Bay of Constance – to the cities on the shores of Lake Constance, Kreuzlingen and Konstanz!

These two cities offer you boundless opportunities! Just hop on your bike to go for a swim in Switzerland or shopping in Konstanz. Not only national borders become blurred, but also the elements, as life is not lived only at, but also in and on the water – at Germany’s largest lake, in the heart of Europe. It’s true, neither Kreuzlingen nor Konstanz are metropolises. However, anyone missing city lights will reach Zurich in less than one hour – and the next skiing area as well.

To make sure you won’t get lost in your new home we have compiled this city guide as a practical guide with tips and trends. In our check list you will find everything you need to know for starting your student life. We’ll also briefly present the University of Konstanz, the University of Applied Sciences ‘Hochschule Konstanz (HTWG)’, the University of Teacher Education ‘Pädagogische Hochschule Thurgau (PHTG)’ and the student service organisation Seezeit. Seezeit is the student service and is responsible for the canteens, the halls of residence and many advisory services. In addition, we have a few helpful tips for your apartment and job search.

Now that all the basics have been covered, we will let you in on where you can get groceries and clothes, and of course, where to party in these cities. There’s more going on than you might think!

Let’s move to swimming and BBQ spots and to festival highlights such as the Campus Festival and the legendary, cross-border Fasnacht (carnival). You will find tips on the dazzling array of the cities’ culinary and cultural offer.
You’ll see, the two cities on the shores of Lake Constance, totalling together more than 105,000 inhabitants, among them nearly 16,000 fellow students, are perfect for studying where others go on holiday!
