Studying before pleasure. Before you can truly enjoy the sunset at the lake, a nice beer in your hand, the name of the game is studying. Though small in size, Konstanz boasts with two universities. The University of Konstanz on the Giessberg hill and the University of Applied Sciences (HTWG) on the shores of the Seerhein. Together they account for more than 16,000 students – which means that one in six residents is a student!
The Thurgau University of Teacher Education in Kreuzlingen has another 600 students.
All three universities are campus universities, which means that all the lectures, rooms and services are at one location. Directly after your lectures you can visit the library or the canteen, without having to cross the entire city. And you are only a few steps away from the lake, too.
You can easily reach the universities by bike or bus – depending on where you live – one or the other is more convenient. Each university has halls of residence close by.
If you have the time and feel like getting involved alongside your studies, you can join one of the university groups: the student’s committee ‘AStA’ or the student associations are always happy about a helping hand.
Even in your leisure time the university campus is well worth a visit – you can chill at the university’s water sports area or the HTWG’s beach bar, or take part in one of the numerous additional offers of the universities: theatre, music, sport….
And if you have a problem you will always find competent contact persons at your university; be it questions on course content, your professional career or study-related stress.
