Konstanz and Kreuzlingen on Lake Constance

Exciting events, cross-border leisure activities and plenty of sights to seen

One foot in Germany, one in Switzerland – and the border right in the middle: Only the customs posts and several art installations remind you of the national boundary that lies between the two university cities. There are hardly any border checks, so people living in the two neighbour cities can enjoy the boundless opportunities Konstanz and Kreuzlingen have to offer.

And that, of course, is particularly appealing because Konstanz and Kreuzlingen each have their own unique character, although they are located so close together. Enjoy a diversity of cultural events, restaurants and pubs, leisure activities and traditional celebrations such as “Fasnet”, the Swabian-Allemannic carneval in Konstanz.

Both cities are located on the shores of Lake Constance and within easy reach of the Alps. Browse our pages about Konstanz and Kreuzlingen to find out what you can discover and experience in this area, and see what is special about living at the border.
